I'm MidwestDad96, a pseudonym/gamertag I started using after my first child was born in 2025. I do indeed live in the midwest (Illinois born and raised), and, like many, have a passion for all things video games.
Video games have always been a big part of my life, ever since my own dad handed me an unplugged controller as a child and let me pretend to play games like Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit on Playstation 1.
Being born in the mid-90's, I've had the opportunity to experience the growth of the video game industry across many generations of console and PC gaming.
Since then, I've amassed quite a library of video games, and I wanted a creative outlet to organize and share my joy and thoughts on these games with the world (well, the very small portion of the world that may stumble across this site).
As a (new) parent, my life sure has changed a lot, and I do not have nearly as much time for gaming or other hobbies, so something like this review site is a lot easier and lower pressure for me to maintain than a hobby YouTube channel or streaming channel. I've also always enjoyed writing reviews (primarily on Steam), and am happy to be able to use this outlet once again.
Regarding my reviews, I hope to bring my unique perspective to the table. I strive to maintain journalistic integrity (even though I am not a trained journalist), and will always call out if I have received a game for free from a publisher/developer. Furthermore, if I review a game that I have received a game for free, I strive to still provide an unbiased and honest opinion.
I hope you enjoy your time spent on my tiny site.
I also would like to dedicate this site to my supportive wife, beautiful son, and my amazing parents and siblings. Without them, I wouldn't be who I am today.
